The Brick Oven of Morristown

The Brick Oven of Morristown is a new upscale pizzeria that offers more than just pizza! Although their gourmet hearth oven baked pizza is to die for their menu offers entrees from steak to pasta.

I had the calamari as an appetizer and felt it was #2 on my all-time favorite calamari list! (#1 if you're curious, is from LOUNGE 11 in Hoboken, NJ) Really, if you think about it, The Brick Oven of Morristown has the BEST calamari in town!

For dinner I ordered the brick oven pizza with goat cheese, mushrooms, onions and added sausage. I have eaten quite a bit of pizza during my time and I was in heaven after I finished my meal! The pizza literally melted in my mouth and I will keep going back for more!

For dessert, I ordered a cannoli... I must say that this cannoli was the best cannoli I have ever tasted! My favorite thing about the entire meal was that the cannoli was placed on top of a scoop of cannoli cream... YUM!

The prices are reasonable, the service was good... We were greeted by the Owner as we walked in and her smile and pleasant demeanor made us feel welcome! Although we didn't sit outside, we were hungry and the wait was long, the outdoor patio is awesome! It is located right on south street but a little away from the noise of traffic so you are able to enjoy your meal in peace!

The atmosphere is nice, The Brick Oven of Morristown is great for a first date or a family night out. It is BYOB - Bring Your Own... however, there are many liquor stores with in walking distance.

So go on enjoy some pizza and support local businesses of Morrstown!

Who Is Tito?!?!

He's the burrito man that's finally coming to Morristown!!!

Tito's Burritos - located where Ben and Jerry's used to be, will be opening another location right in our neighborhood! They have a store located in Summit and the food is quite scrumptious!

Coming from someone who's favorite food is Mexican, I could not be happier!!! Not only does Tito serve up some tasty burritos, Tito has quesadillas, salads, tacos, nachos and wings! Yes, I said it, they claim to have the best wings in town, Mama Mia's watch out!

This is the clincher!!! Tito's Burritos is BYOT - Bring Your Own Tequila - yup... they provide the mix and you bring the tequila... What could be better than that?!?!

While enjoying your delicious treats, Tito also offers free WiFi...

Even though Tito won't be opening his doors for a bit, check him out at his website and if you're mouth is watering looking at the menu online, check him out in Summit...

Kickboxig... the new craze!

Club KO (CKO) has just opened a new location, about 2 months ago, on Rt. 1o in Whippany.

I can't go on enough about how much I love it! The workout is amazing and the instructors are even better! It's about a 1o minute drive, take the shortcut, down whippany road, and you'll recieve a workout of a life time. Bridget, Isaac, and Patty (on Sundays) are skilled individuals who, for all of you who despise excercising, make the class fun and refreshing!

Considering the fact that the only gym we have here in Morristown is a piece of $#!%, well atleast it used to be, this is a great change of pace, cheaper than the price of a gym membership and a better workout...

for more information look on their website -
http://clubkogyms.com/nj_morris_county.html

There are quite a few other locations through out New Jersey and New York, however, the Whippany CKO is located on -
622 Route 10 WestWhippany, NJ 07981

If your body and mind need a change, want to see results fast, kickboxing with Bridget and Isaac is MUST!!! They're actually offering an introductory class for $20, including gloves, go ahead... Try it... Just once... you'll be hooked!!! I am!

A BIG Thank You!

... I apologize to all of you who have written and I have not responded, I was on vacation and have just returned! Welcome to all the new visitors!

I'd like to take a minute and say thanks to everyone who stops by AroundMorristown.com! I got my hair done yesterday, by the oh so wonderful Erica at London World Salon, located conveniently on Market St. (yes, they moved, argh!) and she said that's she recieved business because of an earlier posting! That's wonderful, I will continue to keep updating the happenings, news and anything else I can think of and you guys just keep visiting... tell a friend, heck, tell 100 friends:)

So, again, Thanks!

Greek Delights in Morristown!!!

Greek Delights, an authentic Greek restaurant, is opening it's doors in Morristown! Woo Hoo!

I've been to the one in Montclair and find the food there quite amazing, so needless to say, I am excited that Greek Delights has decided to take over occupancy of what used to be known as the Blue Canteen...

Let's hope that the opening of Greek Delights as well as Tito's Burritos directly across the street (where Ben and Jerry's used to be) will bring more store fronts and businesses to this once hoppin' town that is now overrun with banks!

SM23 - A Hidden Treasure

So, this weekend we had a friend from out of town and we decided to check out the lounge/bar in the Hyatt - SM23. Wow! What a fantastic little lounge!

The vibe is amazing, I felt like I was in a lounge in Vegas and the drinks were grand!!! The service was great and the bartenders definitely had a strong hand, which in my book is always good. Although, it was a little smaller than I had expected, SM23 will definitely be added to the bar round...

When you're there a few must haves -
  • The SM23 Martini - yummmmmm! I believe it was a blend of lychee and lemongrass - to die for!
  • The Raspberry and Lemongrass Martini
  • The Pineapple and Cardamom Martini

The crowd was mostly a date crowd with the few exceptions of some nice looking men... Ladies this is definitely the place for you! Guys... don't go there expecting to find the girl of your dreams or the girl of your Saturday night dreams, but it's definitely worth your while to go and have a few drinks before heading out for the night...

Another One Bites The Dust...

... no, I'm not talking about a Queen song... I'm talking about another local establishment biting the bank dust of what is Morristown and closing it's doors!

La Rue Chaude, one of my favorite stores, by far, is closing its doors. I received an email yesterday announcing the sad news along with a 30% off certificate that I may use to purchase sale and non-sale items.

What in the world is happening to Morristown? What is the local government doing? Things MUST change or we will have NO night life, NO shopping, and NO great restaurants.

I think that Morristown and its government should take a drive into Madison, Montclair, even the downtown of South Orange is great! They have a ton of restaurant choices, great bars, and adorable little boutiques that the residents can frequent...

C'mon Mo-Town, wake up, smell the coffee before it's too late... Who knows Greenberry's may be closing it's doors too and there will be no coffee to smell...

Open House, Networking and Lunch... May 6th!

Free Catered Lunch, 5/6, 11-1:30, 15 Washington Place. Come to the open house for this vintage 9 bedroom, 6 fireplace home located right across the street from Washington's Headquarters. The possibilities are endless to restore this wonderful home, complete with artisan studio which could be your home away from the office! "SPRING" Forward...

... with this weather who can even begin to think that Spring is just around the corner?!?!?!?! We'll be losing an hour tomorrow, however, we'll be gaining some well needed light that will allow us to spring into the outdoor bar & pub season!

In just a few weeks, April will be knocking at our doors and we'll be heading to our faves - Pazo Pazo and Callilou!

BUT... before we get too much ahead of ourselves, lets look to next weekend, when the weather will hopefully be nice and we can enjoy ourselves for the Morristown Annual St. Patrick's Day parade... when young and old gather and everyone becomes Irish for just one day!

Aroundmorristown.com will be out and about ... will you???

Are Banks Taking Over Morristown?!?!?!?!

What in the world is happening to all of our non-banking stores?!?!?!!?!? Driving home a couple of days ago, I noticed that Godive no longer was Godiva, it was an empty store front, waiting for a bank to come and make it it's home...

A few weeks prior to that I was walking home from Century 21 and realized that my salon was no longer there either, instead, this time a real estate agency had just taken it's place... "oh no!" I thought to myself... how in the world will I get my hair done... I did some research on the internet and called my salon - London World Salon - had moved down the road to 45 Market Street... Thank God!

I don't understand what's going on here, with all of these new condos being built and many new neighbors were getting, you'd think that they would put some bars and restaurants in, some great boutiques like La Rue Chaude... hopefully, it will still be standing in the next few months...

What Bars Are The Place To Be And Be Seen

So... after living here for a little over a year and going to quite a few of the bars that we have posted on the bar list, I have found a few of my favorites!

Pazo Pazo has to be by far my fave! I love it in the spring/summer and it's still gets a great crowd in the winter. The drinks are great... most of the bartenders have a "heavy" hand. The crowd is mixed, by my judgement, ranges from a mid twenty crowd to early forties. I don't get to make it there for the happy hour crowd but have heard that it is pretty good.

George & Marthas comes in at a close second! I hadn't been to G & M's in a while and went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night... the crowd was AWESOME and the DJ really rocked! He played great dance music, threw in a lot good 80's songs and really got the crowd movin'... the bartenders really know how to make a drink and the guys were good lookin' and yes fellas, the ladies weren't bad themselves.

Tashmoo is another great place, especially for a pre-game type of setting. The bartenders are really nice and the crowd "ain't half bad"... there are plenty of tables to sit with friends and hang out or the bar which is spacious. I've never been when there is a DJ, if there is even one, but the music they have playing is decent... good for just chillin'

Find out why we decided to create this site...

Welcome to Around Morristown. Com!!!

My husband and I decided to create this site for people just like us! We moved here about a year ago from Hoboken because we wanted to have the joys of the suburbs but still have the city life right at our hands... We're both in our early thirties and still love partying like we're in our early twenties...

After moving here, however, we realized that Morristown isn't quite like Hoboken but still has so much night life to offer. It took us some time to find the great places to go but after a year and still trying we've found a couple that we really enjoy.

Check back regularly for things that are happening around town, great bars, great places to eat and shop, as well as my rambles!

Feel free to leave comments, questions, and any other information you may have for us :)
